Diana's campaigns

You can find out about some of Diana's campaigns here:

Endometriosis

Diana is a patron and supporter of the National Endometriosis Society . She works hard to raise the profile of the disease and, thanks to her efforts, the European Commission agreed to include endometriosis in its future work programme.

Their work can be found through the following link www.endo.org.uk

She also works closely with the World Endometriosis Foundation, whose work can be found through the following link http://endometriosisfoundation.org/

You can also view the Endometriosis section of Diana's website Endometriosis

Equitable Life

Diana was the European Parliament's rapporteur into the Equitable Life crisis. As a result of the demise of the UK insurance company, more than 1 million policyholders, including over 15.000 non-UK residents, suffered losses exceeding 5 billion Euros by way of reductions to their retirement savings. The Parliament endorsed Diana's call for justice for these victims.

Gender Equality

Diana is committed to promoting gender equality in all spheres. In reaction to the poor representation of female Commissioners appointed to the European Commission, she arranged a demonstration where she and a group of female MEPs donned suits and ties demanding more top jobs for women.

112 European Emergency Number

Diana has worked hard to raise the profile of the Europe-wide emergency number 112. Her written declaration in the European Parliament achieved historic support amongst fellow MEPs and she has put pressure on the Commission to raise awareness of the service throughout the Member States.

112 European Emergency Number

In 2011, Diana launched a campaign, enlisting the support of the different Airlines and Ferry companies travelling from the UK to Europe, asking that they inform their passengers of the 112 number. By Easter Diana was joined by companies such as Easyjet, P&O Ferries, British Airways, BMI, Thomson, Iberia and DFDS.

Citizens' Initiative

Diana supported the inclusion in the Lisbon Treaty of the Citizens' Initiative. This will provide a means for one million EU citizens to directly request that the Commission bring forward an initiative. Diana is jointly responsible for the Petitions Committee's report on the Citizens' Initiative, which means she will contribute to decisions about how the Citizens' Initiative will function.

Srebrenica

Diana has worked hard to raise the issue of the Srebrenica genocide within the European Parliament and beyond. She succeeded in getting 11 July recognised as the day of Commemoration of the Srebrenica genocide all over the EU and in 2009 was awarded the 'Srebrenica 1995' prize in Bosnia.

Working for the Environment

Diana is committed to ensuring that environmental concerns do not go unheeded in her work in the European Parliament. After her first term she was voted the region's greenest MEP based on her voting record.
