In a letter to the group responsible for the Richmond Station regeneration project, the Richmondshire Building Preservation Trust, local Liberal Democrat Euro MP, Diana Wallis, has expressed her delight at funding success.

She said:

"I was delighted to see that the Trust had been successful in obtaining grants from both the Heritage Lottery Fund and the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) towards the plans for Richmond railway station. I understand that this is one of the largest grants ever awarded through ERDF in North Yorkshire. "

"At the time of my visit, on a very damp day in November 2003, I was very impressed by the work the group had done on the project and the vision they had for the site. I hope that with these grants that can be properly realised."

Diana Wallis MEP for Yorkshire & the Humber added:

"The finished project will be a tremendous boost for Richmond and I hope it gets the regional and national recognition it deserves."
